Pink October : What is it about ?
Pink October is an annual breast cancer awareness campaign that began in 1985. It originated in the United States and made its first appearance in France in 1989, thanks to the initiative of Marie Claire magazine and the Estée Lauder group. From this collaboration was born the association " Brest Cancer", "Let's Talk About It !" Several years later, in 2020, the association renamed it self simply Pink Ribbon.
From October 1st to 31st each year, numerous initiatives are carried out to raise public awareness about breast cancer, to inform people about the importance of early detection, and to collect funds for research.
What initiatives are planned for Pink October ?
Throughout the month of October, a wide range of events and activities are organized all over France to raise awareness about breast cancer. These generally include :
- Pink steps
- Running races
- Information forums
- Cultural events, such as concerts, plays, or film screenings.
- Fundraising pages that anyone can create to collect donations for research
- Limited editions of products sold with the aim of raising money. Many brands design products and product lines each year specifically for this purpose.
Why is Pink October symbolized by a pink ribbon ?
Colored ribbons are often used to represent a cause, with the most well-known being the red ribbon, symbolizing the fight against aids. To make the fight against breast cancer easily recognizable, the color chosen was no accident : pnk is a vibrant, feminine color. The pink ribbon can be seen throughout the month of October on information displays provided by the campaign's partners. It is found in town halls and local government offices, private companies, and retail stores.
Event Palettes Services Took Part in :
On October 13, 2024, the director of Palettes Services, Mokhtar, had the pleasure of participating in an exceptional event Boulogne-Sur-Mer in support of Pink October. With more than 600 participants, they walked or ran together to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
This event was a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together around a cause that affects us all. A big thank you to all the participants and organizers for their energy and commitment. Together, we are making a difference ! 🎗️
Let's continue to support this important cause and promote awareness about early detection.
